An unfinished residential room became a compact, silent production studio where Pentatonix could create music, switch cameras, and livestream without rebuilding the room.
01 / Project brief
Pentatonix needed a permanent Los Angeles room for music creation, monitoring, video production, and live streaming. Instruments, audio, displays, cameras, lighting, storage, cabling, and an operator position had to fit without overwhelming the residential space.
The acoustic isolation was strong enough that a small fixture fan could become audible during recording, so the lighting system had to operate silently.
JAZ planned around the musicians’ working positions and coordinated construction, storage, cabling, monitoring, and video systems. Wall-mounted PTZ cameras and a desktop controller provided multiple views without a temporary crew setup.
Video switching and program/preview displays supported live operation. DMX production and under-furniture accent lighting were centralized, and a fanless Fresnel supplied focused light without mechanical noise.
