Golden Valley High School received a cooler, more efficient studio lighting system that students learned to control from an iPad within minutes.
01 / Project brief
Golden Valley High School’s Film and TV Production Career Pathway supports GVTV, daily news, commercials, public service announcements, films, and music videos. One shared room had to support several formats, presenter arrangements, scenic looks, displays, and camera positions.
Older incandescent fixtures used significant electricity, produced excessive heat, and were difficult for students to operate. The replacement needed to be efficient, flexible, safe, and easy to learn.
JAZ divided the room into visual zones and coordinated scenic panels, displays, presenter furniture, camera lanes, and overhead lighting. Incandescent fixtures were replaced with Kino Flo Diva fixtures for cooler, more consistent illumination.
The fixtures were integrated into a DMX system with an iPad interface. Within approximately ten minutes of installation, students were adjusting fixtures, changing cues, and building scenes themselves.
