110 Football Broadcast Studio

The client wanted to expand an existing studio for his son, an aspiring sports broadcaster producing LAFC coverage. The plan called for a sit-down interview area, a sports news desk, a large video wall, professional 4K production, a separate engineering space, and live interview feeds from BMO Stadium.

The original room lacked the floor area, structural support, equipment capacity, and climate control required for two sets, multiple cameras, a suspended lighting system, a video wall, and broadcast infrastructure. The system also had to be approachable for a host without extensive production experience.

JAZ removed a wall and doubled the studio footprint, moved three equipment and network racks into weather-resistant exterior enclosures, reinforced the ceiling for a suspended lighting grid, and installed dedicated mini-split cooling for the hosts and equipment.

Remotely operated PTZ cameras, professional audio, 4K switching, recording, monitoring, teleprompter, livestreaming, video-wall, and zoned DMX lighting systems were connected to a separate engineering room. JAZ then translated the workflow into an iPad interface that recalled camera positions, lighting, audio, displays, and recording from clearly labeled controls.

Live feeds from BMO Stadium created a field-and-anchor workflow for interviews with reporters, players, and guests. JAZ designed, fabricated, installed, programmed, tested, commissioned, and trained the client team on the complete system.
